One of the youngest appellations Pessac-Leognan includes some of the world’s finest vineyards. The Smith Haut-Lafitte soil has two unique features: superb natural drainage, and the ‘mirror’ effect of the pebbly topsoil that reflects the sun’s rays, helping the grapes to ripen beautifully. Daniel and Florence Cathiard took over the estate in 1991 and considerable investment has repaid huge dividends in the quality of this outstanding wine with recent vintages scoring over 90 on Robert Parker’s scale.

Les Sources de Caudalie is a four-star luxury hotel, restaurant and vinotherapie® spa set in the midst of the region’s vineyards.
